The American Staffing Association is the voice of the U.S. staffing, recruiting, and workforce solutions industry. ASA and its state affiliates advance the interests of the industry across all sectors through advocacy, research, education, and the promotion of high standards of legal, ethical, and professional practices.
Staffing employment for the week of April 9–15 surged 1.2% to a rounded value of 96—the strongest reading for the same week since the inception of the ASA Staffing Index in 2006. Temporary and contract staffing employment was 3.0% higher than the same week last year, which then included the Easter and Passover holidays.
This week, containing the 12th, will be used in the April monthly employment situation report that will be issued by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on May 4.
The ASA Staffing Index four-week moving average edged up for the fifth consecutive period to a rounded figure of 95. Staffing employment for the four weeks ending April 15 was 1.6% higher year-to-year.


The ASA Staffing Index is reported nine days after each workweek, making it a near real-time measure of staffing employment trends. ASA research shows that staffing employment is a coincident economic indicator.
